Basically, the purpose of a gyroscope mouse is the same as any traditional mouse which is used as a pointing device. However, unlike the traditional mouse, this mouse is wireless and allows its users to use it in the air. The gyroscope inside it tracks the 3D movements from the users and translates them to cursor movements. This mouse is very handy to be used, especially during presentation where the speakers can move around the room.

Why gyros technology?

Gyroscope or gyros has been applied in some new technologies that are mentioned above, because it transforms a motion or movement into electric signals. Most importantly, it is possible for gyroscope to determine how much an object has moved and even to compute the movement speed of an object by calculating the angle moved from each change in rotational velocity.

The origin of gyroscope

In the early 1980s, a new technology called Gyroscopes had been invented. By definition, Gyroscopes (also called gyros) is a device that is used to define a fixed direction in space or to determine the change in angle or the angular rate of its carrying vehicle with respect to a reference frame[1]. Recently, it is implemented in some devices or technologies to detect 3D-movements.

§ Some companies that produce PC mouse and games have to be able to enhance the quality of their products by implementing gyros technology in order to compete with the other companies that have already implemented gyros to their products. Otherwise their business will go bankrupt.
